"Flashing....."

Well the quiz seemed to generate more interest than anything else I've set down here. Is this because of an anorak streak in bloggers as a type? - I wonder? Many thanks of course to those who wished me luck for the commercial interview but come on try harder guys - and dorothy of course - it doesn't look like I got it but you have another chance this pm. The psychological girding up of loins necessary to put oneself through these trials (become a Thing for a day!) is only just worth the lottery of attending. Absurdly one always feels like a reward just for turning up but all you get is a form to fill in order to reduce yourself to a manageable statistic not to mention the inevitable polaroid - "flashing" - Ugh!

Yes - all luck and chookas to you. It's horribly hard but it's all one step in front of the other and at least when things go totally pear shaped we can blog it.

OK here's a classic actors fairytale that's just happened to us.

My partner C was an actor for years, same old same old. He does other stuff now but still has an agent (not the original agent who dumped him but that's a whole other story - arsehole) and does gosees for ads now and then. He did an ad ages ago - a snackfood thing - got a huge payout but the ad never showed on tv. (different pay system to UK I think - we get the bucks up front and if it rolls over the next year you get nearly the same again)

Anyway, years went by and everynow and then we'd say...remember that ad that never showed? Wouldn't it be cool if...

Last week his agent rang. They want to roll over the ad. She wants to double the original figure. It's so big that we actually just laughed and said oh well see if it comes off...and how nice that original agent won't be getting the juicy cut.

That ad was shot 8 years ago.

you never know in this game. Just around the corner...

Oh you know it means...good luck... I have no idea why. There are some wierd stage wishes out there. I mean why "break a leg"?
Any more?

"Break a leg" refers to a strut (the leg)that reinforces the stage curtain where it joins the main spar. If you have lots of curtain calls you may "break a leg". Nothing to do with injuries.

Hi Rod. Thanks for your replies in my journal. That's kind of one of the downfalls of live journal is that they don't have little boxes to put your email or your blog so you have to comment as anonymous and then put it in the body of your message. I am glad you're reading my ramblings. It does get more interesting but lately it's been all about my healing process . I hope it's more about art soon....
Be well.

Dorothy.
